  • QAP Error Notice 1 - Delay Time Implementation
    • When a user runs requests that a control room be added to the dose model the GUI will generate a default breathing rate. If the user has previously specified a delay time, then the default time versus breathing rate table has incorrect time values (they are not updated). The end result is that RADTRAD will not execute (the code crashes).

  • QAP Error Notice 2 - Worst 2 Hour Incorrect
    • Calculation to determine the Worst 2 hour EAB dose can exceed array length in at least one case. The resulting overwrite causes an incorrect value of the time to be reported by the code. This does not result in erroneous dose values.

  • QAP Error Notice 3 - Consecutive Case Dose Changes
    • When a user runs the GUI version through the acceptance test case sequence, some results are different from those calculated by the batch version. For example test case 14 after test case 13 will have additional time periods edited, dose results are not effected.

    • When a user runs the GUI version through the acceptance test case sequence, some results are different from those calculated by the batch version. For example test case 1a after test case 19 will have an incorrect value for the worst 2 hour EAB dose. The edited value at 2 hours is correct.

  • QAP Error Notice 5 - Powers' Deposition Models
    • When a user chooses the Powers deposition models (either sprays or natural decontamination) they go to the Aerosol Model Screen. The GUI indicates that the percentile option has been initialized, but is not and results in a termination when the calculate button is initiated.

  • QAP Error Notice 7 - Time Step Error (Control Room)(PWR reset)
    • The addition of offsite dose calculations to the control room dose calculation reduced the control room dose by a factor of 2.

  • QAP Error Notice 8 - Powers' Natural Deposition
    • Unknown to the user, the RADTRAD 3.03 GUI automatically modifies any compartment, using Powers' Natural Deposition, to the "PWR Design Basis" containment model, whenever the panel for that given compartment is opened. Therefore, the compartment panel cannot be viewed without one having to return the selection to whatever containment model that the user desired. (Mscisz) The program has a case set-up screen for options where the user selects the reactor type to determine fission product species for the event and a separate selection of the Powers aerosol decontamination factor. Normally if a case is created, saved, and then executed the selected options are used. If a case is re-opened, to check or correct the data inputs for example, the program automatically resets the options to PWR - DBA and 10th percentile Powers aerosol decontamination factor. If the case is then run without checking these options then the case is executed with the defaults.(Re)

  • QAP Error Notice 9 - More Than 9 Compartments
    • Do you know of any previously reported error in RADTRAD associated with the use of all 10 Volumes? Two of us have separately run into problems when specifying a 10th volume in two separate models. It seems that when the 10th volume is specified, it somehow alters the source term associated with Volume #1.

    • The RADTRAD V303 FORTRAN logic does not define the spray alpha as the Powers model does, they should be consistent. This error also generates conservative (higher dose) results.

    • When using the natural deposition User input option, if the User does not specify a set of aerosol deposition values the code fails.

    • If a user models a timed release with the source term split from two separate compartments, the radionuclides available for release are incorrectly reduced.

  • QAP Error Notice 17 - Powers' Natural Deposition (deposition after 24 hours)
    • The Powers simplified model for natural deposition of radionuclides included a feature to stop all deposition at around 24hours due to limitations in the underlying physics. This feature was not included in all versions of the RADTRAD code, instead a nominal removal coefficient was used. Thus additional deposition occurred over the ensuing 29 days leading to a potential for less release from the containment and therefore less personnel dose.

  • QAP Error Notice 18 - Deposition Model Output Errors
    • The RADTRAD software allows the user to model certain compartment features, including radionucleid removal via Sprays and Natural Deposition. The runtime model information (if selected) displayed in the output file is mislabeled for certain situations. This error has two effects, which apply to both RADTRAD 3.03 and Serco-RADTRAD v3.10 unless otherwise stated in the description.
